Cardiac differentiation roadmap for analysis of plasticity and balanced lineage commitment
Veenstra, Passier, and colleagues present a temporal roadmap of human cardiac differentiation under different culture conditions with cell states reminiscent of the fetal heart, allowing direct comparison of ventricular and atrial cardiomyocytes. Using multiome-derived gene-regulatory networks, ZNF711 was identified as a factor required for balanced commitment to epicardial and ventricular cardiomyocyte lineages, a requirement substantially alleviated by retinoic acid.
